Installing UniFi manager on Ubuntu or Debian

I recently have switching my network to an Ubuntu based router.  Hopefully this will allow me to have redundant internet connections as well as more stability then other over-the-counter router solutions.  With the new setup I plan to use UBiQUiTi Networks WiFi UAP-PRO’s.  These seem like an amazing solution that allow you to set up multiple units for mesh networking, as well as powering them via ethernet.   You can easily mount them on the ceiling or the walls.  They do however require you to run a software controller on a PC.   Luckily I can install it directly on the Ubuntu router.

First add

deb http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/unifi/debian stable ubiquiti

to

/etc/apt/sources.list

then run the following

apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 7F0CEB10
apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 06E85760C0A52C50
apt-get update
apt-get install unifi

now just connect to
